At time of writing, I was listening to the Aussies collapse to the number one Test playing nation, Sth Africa (geez, that was hard to write).
We have found another date to put into the Dino calendar after a fun filled day at the cricket last Friday. Inaugural players to don the baggy red were; A. Cameron, Hall, Haoust, Sarre, Wharton, Gittos, Keech, Ogden and C. Cameron.
We kicked things off with a 7am start at Craig ‘The Pest’ Hall’s castle. As I pulled up in the drive the smell of cooking oil came wafting from the back yard. As it was also my 16th Wedding Anniversary, we toasted to my little lady with the following…….
“There are tall ships and small ships
And ships that sail the sea
But the best ships are friendships
So here’s to you and me”
….., scoffed bacon, eggs, sausages and hit the road for Perth.
Pauline from France was our driver for the day and before you could say Oooo La Laaaaaa, we where in Perth.
After a dusty trip it was time to wet the whistle so we said goodbye to Murray at the gate as his lordship went off to his corporate tent and we found our sun baked seats. Well, to our surprise, Murray’s tent was right behind us so we got to see just how many oysters this man can eat in one day. We drank out of plastic while Murray raised another boutique beer in our direction….it was a tale of the haves and have nots right from the first ball and the big fellas was lovin it.
The seats where actually spot on, the Hann super drys were ok and Sth African wickets began to tumble. At the end of the days play we had seen 12 wickets go down and the game was evenly matched…all in all, a good days play.
After tumbling out of the ground we decided to stop into The Lucky Shag.
Unfortunately they sensed our country-ness and packed us off so it was a fast food stop, a top up of the esky and we pointed our nose for home.
Haousty and Hally decided on arrival to the place it all started that morning, that the previous 15 hours swilling wasn’t quite enough and off they went into the Bunbury night.
A top day amongst the Dinos and another tradition is born…..who will wear the baggy red in 2013 ??
